This barn isn’t for horses (or donkeys) anymore. This past week was a big one for hygiene – the Brodie Homestead got a bath and bathrooms.
Over the weekend, our team worked tirelessly (even on Memorial Day!!) to power wash every piece of wood in the interior of the barn (mainly the wooden beams that create the gorgeous gambrel roof details). And with decades of dust and dirt packed onto each piece of wood, you best believe it made a huge difference. Major thanks goes out to our amazing crew!
Late last week, our construction crew removed what used to be the stables to make way for our new restrooms. Once the stables were taken out, the team finished framing what will be everyone’s go-to spot for reapplying lipstick. They also added structural beams to the exterior of the barn to support the weight of the new roof, which we can’t wait to see finished!
On the to do list for this week is framing out the catering kitchen and storage room, which used to be the place for sorting cotton, as well as dropping the floors in the second half of the barn. We’ll also be framing out the entrance from the adjacent parking lot.
Keep checking back for more progress updates!
